Wander down the pier-like boardwalk and across a rope bridge into this treetop chalet, where sustainable craftsmanship meets cosy, luxurious interiors. At its heart lies a central, circular room with a rotating wood burner, around which there’s a king-sized bed, fully equipped kitchen and roll-top bath. There’s also an entrance hall for coats and muddy boots, plus an en suite, flushing loo.
Outside the luxury treehouse on the upper deck sits your own sauna and hot tub, while on the lower deck you’ll find an open air tree shower, hammock, wood-fired pizza oven, barbecue and slide down to the woodland floor, plus views through the woods towards the sunset.
Opened in 2016, the design was a collaboration between Guy Mallinson and Keith Brownlie of BEaM, constructed by Guy and his team of highly skilled wood craftsmen. It won the RIBA South West award and ‘small project of the year’, and featured in both George Clark’e Amazing Spaces and Grand Designs House of the Year.
Price for 2 adults: £990 for two weeknights, £1485 for weekends (Fri 4pm-Mon 10am or departure late Sunday pm) Christmas 2024, 4 nights £1980, 2025 & 2026, 5 nights £2475.
